'Helix' Renewed for a Second Season by Syfy

Helix just finished its first season on Syfy, and now, it can look forward to its second.

Syfy has renewed Helix for season two. The 13-episode second season of the series, from executive producer Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), will begin production later this year. The network is looking to premiere the new season in the winter of 2015.

“‘Helix’ has built one of our most loyal and consistent audiences in its first season on Syfy. The incredibly talented writing and producing team have crafted a thriller that consistently delivered suspense, twists and high quality drama,” said Bill McGoldrick, Syfy's Executive Vice President of Original Content. “We look forward to growing this passionate audience in what promises to be an even more memorable second season.”

McGoldrick added that the first season “consistently delivered suspense, twists and high-quality drama.”

Having never watched Helix, I wouldn't know. But hey, season two is coming in a year's time, so I have plenty of time to start, I suppose.
