Helena Bonham Carter cast as Fairy Godmother in live-action 'Cinderella'

Helena Bonham Carter is joining Disney's live-action update of Cinderella with director Kenneth Branagh.

The Oscar-nominated actress will play the role of the Fairy Godmother, joining the previously announced cast of Cate Blanchett as the Wicked Stepmother, and Downton Abbey's Lily James in the title role. In addition, Game of Thrones alum Richard Madden will portray the prince.

Aline Brosh McKenna (27 Dresses, The Devil Wears Prada) and Chris Weitz wrote the film, which will shoot this fall in London with David Barron, Simon Kinberg and Allison Shearmur producing.
