HBO Picks Up 'Westworld' To Series
HBO has given the greenlight to Westworld.
The network has picked up the drama, which is described as "a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin." The project is a collaboration between Bad Robot Productions, Jerry Weintraub Productions and Kilter Films in association with Warner Bros. Television, and producers Athena Wickham and Susie Ekins. The show, which has been in development for some time now, is already among the most anticipated TV projects of 2015.
The one-hour drama comes from executive producers J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, Bryan Burk, Kathy Lingg, Lisa Joy and Interstellar writer Jonathan Nolan, who will also serve as a writer/director on the project. Inspired by the motion picture Westworld, written and directed by the late Michael, the show features a genuinely impressive cast. Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan, and Simon Quarterman fill out an ensemble that ranks among TV's most stacked.
HBO has been building anticipation for Westworld by posting a series of Vines such as these:
