Hawaii Five-0 - Series Premiere

If you're hoping that this remake would mirror the original exactly, you may be disappointed. If you're hoping to see a crime show with a hint of comedy, great chemistry, and the heart of the original, then you will enjoy this as much as I did. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Crime or cop shows really aren't my cup of tea and no matter what I told myself, I knew I was watching this for Daniel Dae Kim. But it was great. I hope the ratings reflect that and CBS has a winner on its hands.

While on the job, Steve McGarrett gets a call from Victor, a criminal who has his father at gunpoint. Unable to save him, Steve finds himself called to Honolulu to bury his father. The governor is waiting for him with a request. She offers him the opportunity to head a new police unit with the authority and perks to help him get the job done. The governor is just as eager for him to get revenge on the mad man who shot his father as he is. He accepts the job, recruits some partners, and starts to kick ass.

Together with Danny Williams (Danno of course), Chin Ho Kelly (Mr. Daniel Dae Kim himself) and his cousin Kono, they represent the new task force in town. I love the chemistry between the actors. The comic relief was just right and never overdone. With the help of his new crew and a few well placed arrests, they track down the man they're looking for. I didn't even recognize James Marsters at first but I must say, he plays an excellent villain. After some crazy stunts by Alex O'Loughlin, Steve shoots Victor and lands him in the ocean. I can't wait to see these guys rid Hawaii of any and all criminals.
