Hawaii Five-0 - Oia'i'o - Season Finale Recap
The episode kicks off with some good news for two of the team. Chin is offered a chance to be reinstated with the police department and promoted to Lieutenant. At first he turns down the offer because he's happy working with 5-0. Danno has been spending some extra "quality" time with Rachel lately and she announces she wants to end things with her husband. She calls Danny with some extra surprising news. She's pregnant, it's his baby, and she doesn't want to live in Hawaii anymore. She wants him to join her and Grace on a plane to Jersey that night. Little does Danny know but he's going to have his hands completely full.
Their day gets an unexpected jolt when their friend Laura Hills is killed in a car bomb after talking to them. Steve immediately suspects Wo Fat is targeting them for getting too close. His theory gets a bump when they discover that Wo Fat wasn't the one sending Steve his father's evidence but Laura. They investigate her house and the police find prints all over the place that match Steve's. The bomb that was purchased to kill her was bought in Steve's name. He's being set up. Steve senses he's running out of time before stuff hits the fan and he thinks the Governor is hiding something from him.
He suspects the skeleton key he was sent matches a desk in her office so he schemes to break in and check it out. Inside the drawer is the rest of his father's evidence, along with pictures of Laura sending it to him. This is why she was killed. The Governor found out. Steve's dad was killed for investigating the Governor and finding out the truth. I didn't see this coming. Chin gets a call from the police who alert him there's a warrant out for Steve's arrest. They want him for murder. He books it and tells the rest of the team to wipe everything from their harddrives. While Kono is busy doing that, she's surprised when the cops show up for HER arrest. They want her for stealing the money needed for Chin's ransom a few episodes back. I kind of love how they didn't forget or drop these storylines. Everything is coming full circle.
Steve scales the roof and runs for his life after taking out a cop on his way up. Steve is obviously scared and in a rush to get the evidence he needs to save his life. He hits up Kamekona for a gun and storms the Governor's house, taking out multiple security guards along the way. He sticks a gun in her face and demands answers and a recorded confession. She's reluctant at first but eventually admits to having Laura killed. Just as the words are out of her mouth, Wo Fat shows up to taser Steve, shoot and kill the Governor and puts his gun in Steve's hands. OH MY GOD. Chin, who apparently rejoined the Hawaiian police while all of this was going down, shows up to arrest Steve. Danny rushes over as Steve is being put in the police car and tells off Chin for going back to the force after everything they did to him. He promises to get Steve out. While he's at it, he's going to have to get Kono out of jail because a witness recognizes her. The 5 0 task force is no more and everything is falling apart. I guess Danny won't be making his flight to Jersey.
