Hawaii Five-0 - Ko'olauloa - Recap

During an annual surfing competition, Ian, the CEO of a massive surfing company is shot and killed while in the water. This case is especially painful for Kono, who was very close to Ian. Having grown up surfing with him as a mentor until her injury, Kono is forced to revisit her past to find the identity of the killer.
Steve and Danno investigate the scene of the crime which leads them to two suspects. Former members of a group of Island Protectors of Hawaii who have motive to kill someone powerful on the island. For the time being their alibi's check out and they are forced to let them go. Kono catches up with an old surfing buddy Ben. If I had a friend who looked like that I'd never let him leave. Just sayin.
Things between Kono and Ben heat up fast when he takes her on a tour of the land he's been living on. Their romantic moment is interrupted when a group of goons show up in masks to torch the place. Two of the goons happen to be the aforementioned convict island protectors. Steve leads Danno on a high speed chase of these guys on a rocky cliff. If I was Danno, I'd be whimpering too.
Chin discovers that Kono's friend Ben was named in Ian's will as the sole beneficiary. The reason being that Ian is Ben's real father. Ben isn't on speaking terms with his "dad' and it makes sense why he would hire some goons to kill Ian once he found out about Ian's intentions to reconnect with Ben. Phew. Things were pretty tense when Kono was accusing Ben of murdering Ian for the money. I'm glad he turned out to be a nice guy.
