A famous photographer is murdered on the island when his trailer mysteriously catches fire. Among the suspects are the bikini models he was shooting for the day. One of them his fiance and the other a jealous ex girlfriend. His pregnant fiance immediately accuses his ex girlfriend of doing it out of jealousy. Kono and a childhood friend try to track down the gasoline that was used to start the fire while Danno and Steve go over his phone records. They discover he's a serious gambler who owed a ton of money to a bookie. Thinking his debt is a motive to kill him, they track down the bookie to question him. The guy is innocent of murder but lent Renny money to be put into a trust for a daughter he abandoned as a baby. Turns out the production assistant that was hired for the week was his daughter who had no idea he wanted anything to do with her. To get revenge on Renny abandoning their family, she burned him alive.
In the personal lives of our time, Steve is still being followed by whoever is messing with him over his parent's deaths. After a run, Steve returns to his car to find a mysterious key taped to his windshield. Chin's uncle finally goes to the police about stealing the money for Chin's sick aunt and this begins to clear Chin's name. Chin refuses to let him tell the truth and he himself goes to the police once again and insists it was he who took the money. They don't believe Chin is telling the truth until he shows them he's had the money all along. Chin goes to the bookie they questioned over Renny's murder and offers him the deed to his house in exchange for 200 grand.
