Hawaii Five-0 - He Kane Kewa'ole - Recap

Kono and Chin start their day off with a high speed chase that ends with more than a little blood shed. While their victim is stuck inside his crashed car, they open a box he had with him and discover a bloody severed head inside. Hmm. Well that was lovely. They track down the owner of the stolen car but don't get very far. They alert the victim's family and find out that they are in the country illegally.

Chin and Kono visit local hospitals to get whatever information they can on the severed head. Chin has an awkward meeting with his ex fiance who he hasn't seen since they broke up. It's obvious that they still love each other and that their break up was a result of Chin's pride. Part of me really wanted to see Yunjin Kim play his wife. They are able to ID the head and find out his history. He was married so they go to question the wife's father. He was the intended recipient of the boxed head as a little reminder of the fact that his daughter is being held for ransom.

Danno and Steve follow him to the proposed money drop and go in guns blazing when the man is threatened. Danno goes flying out of the car and they shoot him. It turns out to be the guy who rented the stolen car all along. He's been having an affair with the daughter of the victim who encouraged her husband's death so that she could get money out of her father and go take a vacation to Paris. Nice. Very nice.

Steve's eyes are on fire when he's questioning her and she shows no remorse whatsoever. She barely blinks when he tells her that she's responsible for the death of someone's father. It obviously hits too close to home for Steve and he quickly tells Danno to get her away from him. What a powerful scene. One of my favorites so far this season.
