Hawaii Five 0 - Hana 'a 'a Makehewa - Recap

Christmas time comes for the team with some unhappy news. They're investigating a murder and discover an unwelcome face among the evidence. Victor Hesse. Also known as the evil guy with the awesome accent who murdered Steve's dad. Apparently Steve didn't shoot him good enough because he's still alive and he's back.
Steve's eyes are on fire and he immediately jumps into action. All he can think about is catching this guy and making him pay. They track down the doctor who nursed Victor back to health and look through his house for clues. Well..they found his body at least. Hesse isn't one to leave clues behind. Not wasting any time, they visit their favorite mullet in prison and ask for his help tracking down Hesse. That is some fierce mullet. And he's so proud of it.
He's not as reformed as I was lead to believe and ends up betraying Steve and Danny and driving off with Victor. This leads them on another high speed car chase with Danno clutching at his seat belt for dear life. Chin tries to head them off but gets himself taken hostage with a bomb strapped to his neck. He can't move or it will explode. Basically, no one can do anything or he's toast. I feel like I've seen this before. Isn't this like the 73rd time Daniel Dae Kim has acted in a bomb scare? :( Bad memories.
Hesse wants 10 million dollars or Chin goes boom. Does he really need to blackmail for money? Isn't it more than that at this point? The governor won't help Steve out with the money and refuses to negotiate. This leaves them with nowhere else to turn but to force Chin to help them get their hands on confiscated drug money. Steve takes the money and meets up with Hesse. Victor takes the money and immediately burns it because like I suspected, he would never care about something so petty when it comes to Steve. Steve promptly beats the crap out of him with the help of a bullet by Kono and puts his ass in jail. I don't know how he didn't kill him.
They deactivate the bomb and Chin is saved. Yay!!! When Hesse arrives in jail, he already has a visitor. I can't place the character but I know I've seen him on the Food Network being overly excited over ingredients. He wants to know how close Steve is to solving the mystery his father was investigating. Steve is too close for comfort and he wants to stop him.
What a great midseason finale! Definitely one of the best ones I've seen so far this season. Alex's acting was on fire tonight. So amazing. Danny's was endearing and adorable as always with his own family storyline and his bromance with Steve is never ending. Just like I like it. What did you guys think? Wasn't that a great cliffhanger to last us until January?
