Hart of Dixie - Season 2 Episode 11 - Recap - Old Alabama
Here’s the recap for Season 2 Episode 11 of Hart of Dixie: “Old Alabama" on The CW!
Coming off the Christmas holiday, the Hart of Dixie gang is back just in time for another Bluebell tradition--Pioneer Day (in which they are not allowed to use power). A day to celebrate the town’s oldest couple, but all the town’s been talking about is their new couple, Zoe (Rachel Bilson) and Wade (Wilson Bethel).
Mayor Lavon Hayes (Cress Williams) has other things on his mind as Southern Living Magazine plans to come to Bluebell to cover the tradition. He enlists Wade and Zoe to play the town’s “Founding Couple” although he has reservations about how long their relationship is going to last. (Lavon is not a huge fan of love or Lemon Breeland since Ruby denied his proposal after she found out of his love for Lemon)
Zoe and Wade play the "Founding Couple" at Pioneer Day
Zoe is convinced Wade will never be able to change his ways but after reading Lucillie’s diary (the wife of the original Founding Couple) she decides to let is slide in order to stay in the honeymoon phase while she can. When Wade begins to question her generous ways she tells him her plan to keep their relationship as healthy and happy as possible. Zoe focuses her frustrations in other places, such as M&Ms and knitting. She doesn’t want to end up in a relationship like her parent’s when all they do is fight, so she takes on as many projects during Pioneer Day as possible.
Meanwhile, Brick (Tim Matheson) is still trying to set the record straight with George (Scott Porter) regarding his “romp in Santa’s Workshop” with Shelby (Country singer and Broadway star Laura Bell Bundy) Despite trying his hardest to end things with Shelby, Brick is sucked in by her gifts and talks of “lingerie” and decides to keep it going agreeing to sneak out that night. After thinking about it some more Brick decides enlist the help of George in order to break up with Shelby. When she caught wind of the “compliment sandwich” style of breakup Brick was trying to lay on her she slaps George in the face.
Lemon (Jamie King) and Annabeth (Kaitlyn Black) make a plan to get their catering company noticed by the magazine, just in time for Lavon to fire previous caterer Donna. The pair decided to have a “fake up” of their business partnership in order to get Lavon to hire Annabeth to do the catering, thinking she is no longer working alongside Lemon. Annabeth seems to be handling the catering for Pioneer Day but when Lemon offers from “unsolicited advice” Lavon demotes her to “Grog Wench” With Lemon off serving the Grog there is room for a new town organizer, Zoe Hart. Concerned with their well being- Wade goes to his old friend George for advice.
Wade is unable to handle the way Zoe is acting and decides that his best line of defense is to piss Zoe off in order to get a rise out of her. When Lavon gets wind of his plan he is not happy and worries how the town will be portrayed in Southern Living if something goes wrong. All seems to be going well until Lemon steps in to tell the writer the truth about their scheme and how they were working together the entire time.
When Wade’s friend Meatball lets it slide that he and Wade went to a strip club earlier in the week all hell breaks loose in which Zoe decideds to let all her frustrations out during their Founder’s Couple speech. Finally, George gives the best advice he’s done all episode and just tells Brick to be with Shelby if that’s what he wants, giving us a look back into the do-gooder George Tucker of season’s past.
Brick and George have a heart to heart
Will Zoe and Wade be able to stick it out? Are Brick and Shelby going to make it official? Will Lavon ever fall in love again? Keep it here for all the answers!
