Hart of Dixie - Season 3 Episode 11 - Recap - One More Last Chance

Hart of Dixie - Season 3 Episode 11 - Recap - One More Last Chance

Every character on The CW's Hart of Dixie has got to rally together to save the charming Southern town where the show is set (BlueBell, Alabama) from a merger with a nearby rival! On top of all this, Dr. Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) is still house-hunting and unemployed! Strife! Stress! Strict rules about manners and decorum! It's Hart of Dixie!

Zoe and Joel are looking for a new house still, and there's a place to rent with one of Zoe's distant aunts, Winifred. Cousin Vivian is convinced it won't work, though, because Aunt Winifred hates New Yorkers, and Zoe is exactly that (so is Joel). Viv has Zoel and Joel babysit her son Harley so that she can take her clothes off with Wade (who Harley does not like). A solid plan, but Zoe and Joel get in a fight over where they wanna live and have to take the kid home. Their only solution to the fight over the housing situation seems to be convincing Aunt Winifred to rent to them. They head to a family barbecue to work it all out. Wade convinces Aunt Winifred that Zoe is cool and Zoe convinces Harley that Wade is cool, and everyone is all better... until Wade loses Harley's prized pet lizard! Grah, Wade is always screwing up! Zoe takes the blame and makes herself look so bad that her Aunt doesn't want to rent to her anymore. Wade at least comes clean with Harley about having lost the lizard, and Joel ends up relenting on his house choice. Hooray! Everybody wins!

Lavon has gotten two hours with the lieutenant governor to cinvince him BlueBell, Alabama is a historic landmark and therefore cannot merge with neighboring Fillmore. He gets the whole town together, but rehearsal does not go well. Then, the lieutenant governor shows up and gets the whole awkward tour without a hitch... Except for one: Eight-months-pregnant Shelby is hiding from him, since they slept together... about eight months ago!! Oh no!! The push for historic status works, and they're all set to sign the paperwork when Shelby blunders in to let her baby's daddy know he's gonna be a dad soon. Yikes. He eventually snaps out of it, offering to help Shelby raise the kid (getting her out of Brick's hair) and singing the papers to save BlueBell from the merger. Hooray! That was sooner than I thought!

George is super uncomfortable because Lynly and Tansy are becoming pals. Good for him, though, because Lynly accidentally burns Tansy's hair. George seems to think Lynly might've done it on purpose, or Lynly sees it that way anyhow. She gets super upset and becomes convinced that George wants to dump her. I don't even know who to believe by the end of it. They almost mess up Lavon's big "Save BlueBell" tour, because they're set to kiss as the town's favorite couple but they get in this dumb fight just as it's all going down. They do reconcile, but they take some time to sort out their feelings.

This episode was a lot more complex than this season has been so far, and I'm glad for it. I mean, it's harder to recap, but the interwoven plots are far more interesting to watch. I'm surprised they tied up the merger plotline so soon, but maybe that won't be quite the end just yet... Check out the preview!
