Hart of Dixie - Season 3 Episode 10 - Recap - Star of the Show

First: Sorry for the delay with this recap. Sleepy Hollow's two-hour finale devoured my Monday night, and then a snowstorm knocked out my internet/cable! What poor luck! ANYWAY. The CW keeps on chugging with the third season to Hart of Dixie, continuing the "Save BlueBell" plot that started just in this latter half of the season. Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) and the rest of the town are starting to come together in the effort now!

George Tucker has a dream about his ex-gf Tansy and his paranoid current-girlfriend Lynly gets real mad at him about it, like George can control his dang dreams, sheesh! In the effort to save BlueBell from Fillmore's attempted annexation, George has to hang out with Tansy and her new beau, rival Fillmore lawyer Scooter. George slings the accusation about the secret annexation, and Scooter cops to it, also realizing that Tansy must have spied on him. He leaves in a huff, and the remaining three get super drunk in their despair.

Lavon is all bummed about the merger, moping around the house. Instead of saving BlueBell, he's just staying in and being sad. AnnaBeth takes matters into her own hands, summoning the Belles (and a video chat Lemon Breeland). The Belles go a little nuts, with Cricket breaking the Governor's sister's car, to keep her from leaving BlueBell. This gives Lavon a chance to impress her and try to save BlueBell. She'd like to go to a show Shelby is putting on, and Lavon agrees to take her.

Meanwhile, Shelby, back in Brick's life, is messing everything up. He can't say no to her, even when he should. Shelby's cabaret needs a new director, and Zoe is insistent upon her own creativity today. Brick suggests Zoe as a way to sabotage the cabaret and get Shelby out of his life. It turns out the cabaret seems to be going okay, and when Joel finds out about the ploy, Zoe doesn't even believe him. They watch a run-through and boy is it embarrassing. It just... sucks! Zoe sees the light and gets real mad about being tricked, but eventually sets that aside, since now the cabaret is the thing that could potentially be saving BlueBell. Zoe passes the director's chair to Joel, who reverts all of Zoe's weird edutainment changes (she made it about cellular reproduction??), but he has to make do without Shelby. They put on the show and it is just still terrible. It's less terrible than the dumb cell thing, but still pretty awkward. Then, Shelby shows up and saves the whole mess with a showstopping number in a red sequin dress. They totally convince the governor's sister to have someone else visit BlueBell to decide about the fate of the merger. Yeesh, that's a rather small victory!

A good episode, but wow was that cabaret part hard to watch. It was really, embarrassingly bad, even after it was supposed to be good. This part of the season seems like cancellation insurance; if the show is picked up again, BlueBell is saved, and if it isn't, BlueBell gets dissolved for a bittersweet ending. Now word on the show ending or continuing yet so far as I know, so we'll just have to wait to see how it plays out! Check out this preview below!
