Harry Connick Jr. signs deal to become third 'American Idol' judge - Report

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Harry Connick Jr. has signed a deal to join Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban as the third judge on American Idol.
Connick Jr is no stranger to Idol, guest starring in a mentor role and performing multiple times. Reportedly Idol was not keen on bringing another woman on board due to the friction between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey last year. According to sources, they also had wanted to bring an industry person on board, but could not due to time.
Fox currently declines to comment.
