Will Harry Connick Jr. be filling the final seat on the judges table at American Idol? That's what may be happening according to a new report.

Via Deadline:

He is a self-professed big fan of American Idol who has done two very well-received stints as a guest mentor on the Fox singing competition and has been rumored for a judging gig on the show in the past. Could it be Harry Connick Jr.‘s time? I hear the singer is on a shortlist of candidates for the seat on the Idol judging table, which became vacant again after a deal with music producer Dr. Luke fell through at the last minute. Asked in May on The Ellen DeGeneres Show whether he would be interested if asked to become a judge on idol, Connick Jr. said, “Well, yeah, I mean I had a really good time! I had a good time mentoring. Judging is a whole different deal; I don’t know how good I would be at that.”

This is the only, and I mean only thing that could get me to watch Idol again. Harry was always light-years better than any of the mentors or judges on the show. I always felt he saw through the b.s. and wanted to focus on crafting genuine musical talent. I like to think he would put an end to the blindingly obvious manipulation. Remember when he shut that down last year?

Plus, he's a total babe.

What do you think about Harry Connick Jr. joining American Idol as a judge? Can American Idol be saved?
