Happy New Year

CJ Happy New Year.jpg

As I sit in front of my computer, typing my year-end reflection, CJ is sleeping on the floor of my junior one bedroom apartment in Hell's Kitchen while we wait for Gabriel to come back from New Year's festivities in Times Square. In that sentence alone of course wraps up the entire 2010 for me.

It's been a year since I moved out of my apartment in East Harlem (and roommates!) to a place I can call my own in a part of town where I can just walk to anywhere. Whenever I felt down during the year, I just looked at where I lived and remembered that once upon a time I couldn't afford anything -- and forced to take the cheapest apartment I could find. I really had no reason to feel bad about where I'm at in life. And I don't.

Gabriel aka Klope is visiting me now from Atlanta but I told him that I am not going to Times Square to watch the ball drop because standing in the cold for at least five hours sandwiched in the middle of tourists for a few seconds I most likely won't even see is not worth it for me (LOL). Gabriel wrote a few of the pop culture posts on the blog which helped expand our audience. Though Rickey.org is still known for everything American Idol, 2010 established that we can dominate other topics in the Reality TV world as well as some parts of pop culture. Though most of the popular ones are of the NSFW type (Miley Cyrus crotch anyone? LOL) -- the blog got a lot of visits from such topics as "the smoking baby", "the next Justin Biebers" and even a random Thor movie trailer. I'm very happy with what has happened over the past year, and looking forward to what looks like an interesting 2011 with new Reality TV shows joining the TV calendar. Of course, if anything controversial or interesting outside of Idol or Reality TV comes up -- I'll do my best to be on top of things.

Finally, CJ entered my life in July. She is everything I believed I would get when I decided to get her, even if I really had no idea what I was getting into. Our life together isn't perfect -- but everyone I know has given me positive feedback about how I look or behave since I got her. The funniest was my brother asking me what I did to my skin to make it look so good. Of course, I've done nothing. And in fact, I am a little stressed taking care of CJ on a daily basis. But aside from the new apartment, the most radical change I've done to my life recently was get a puppy. So it must be CJ.

I have never been happier in my life than now. (Except for when I was 5 and 6 -- but back then I didn't know any better).

Thanks everyone for visiting Rickey.org in 2010 and I hope you all come back in 2011. I really love what I do, and I am really happy you guys appreciate it.
