After an interminable wait for fans, NBC has finally decided the fate of Hannibal. As it turns out, the Peacock Network has decided to say "Screw the diet!" and order a second helping.

NBC has renewed the freshman drama for a 13-episode second season. Executive producer Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) brought the series to primetime, utilizing the characters and world of the Hannibal Lecter series from novelist Thomas Harris.

“We’re so proud of Bryan’s vision for a show that is richly textured, psychologically complex, and very compelling,” NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said, in a statement. “There are many great stories still to be told.”

The show, which follows the intertwined lives of criminal profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and cannibal shrink Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), is expected to return no earlier than midseason 2014.
