Halle Berry To Star In 'Extant' For CBS

Oscar winner Halle Berry is returning to television.
CBS announced that the actress, who began her career on the short-lived ABC series Living Dolls in the late 1980s, will be starring in the summer event series Extant. The serialized drama, from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios, was given a straight-to-series order in August, and tells the story of an astronaut returning home from a year-long mission. The astronaut (played by Berry) tries to reconnect with her husband and son, but finds that her experiences in space and home lead to events that could change the course of human history.
“There's only one Halle Berry and we are incredibly honored that she has chosen EXTANT to expand her illustrious career,” said Steven Spielberg, in the official press release. “As she does with everything she touches, she will bring a deep authenticity to her role and I very much look forward to working with her.”

Extant will premiere summer 2014 on CBS.
