Director Guillermo del Toro's vampire apocalypse book series turned TV show The Strain is getting a full 13-episode order on FX.
Back in March, FX told reporters that the series (which is preparing to film a pilot) had gotten a writing staff and additional scripts, all signs that it would get at least one season on the network.
Something which is obviously happening based on news from the Hollywood Reporter.
The series will be based on Toro's apocalyptic vampire trilogy written with Chuck Hogan. The books are also currently in the midst of being adapted for comic form by author David Lapham.
The Strain's writer/producer Carlton Cuse (Lost) said of the series, "Guillermo’s epic, cinematic pilot for The Strain starts a chilling and compelling story that will upend everything you thought you knew about vampires."
Actor Corey Stoll is currently attached to play protagonist Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, known affectionately as Eph. The series is set to air in July of 2014.
So much excite!
