'Guardians of the Galaxy' Animated Series Premiering in 2015 (VIDEO)
Marvel is all over New York Comic Con. The studio not only released the first look at the costume for Netflix's Daredevil, they also made a big announcement concerning their next animated offering.
A Guardians of the Galaxy animated series is heading to Disney XD in 2015 as part of the network's "Marvel Universe" block. The show will center on Peter Quill, the adventurer known as Star-Lord, who joins forces with a quartet of rogues to save the galaxy. Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora and Drax will all be featured in the series, which had the debut of its first official test footage.
"The movie and franchise quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. We're looking forward to working with the great team at Marvel Television to deliver an engaging animated series that fans can enjoy each week," said Marc Buhaj, Senior VP of Programming, and General Manager at Disney XD.
"This is a very exciting time for the Marvel Animation Studio as we get to explore the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe by developing the first-ever Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy animated series," added Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television. "After starring in the biggest movie of 2014, everyone wants more of Star-Lord and his crew – now they'll get it."
