'Grey's Anatomy' Loses Two Actors
Grey's Anatomy stars are departing, left and right! In addition to the departure of longtime star Sandra Oh, Grey’s Anatomy is losing two recent additions to its regular cast.
Tessa Ferrer and Gaius Charles, who play residents Leah Murphy and Shane Ross, respectively, will not have their contracts renewed for next season. Ferrer and Charles were recently bumped up to series regulars along with Camilla Luddington and Jerikka Hinton, all four of whom joined the drama last season in recurring roles as new interns. The decision not to renew Charles and Ferrer's contracts could have its origin in any number of reasons, from creative considerations to financial concerns. If I were a theorizing man in a tinfoil hat, I would think the show decided to cut them in order to free up some extra dough to keep Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey around, since the network recently inked lucrative new deals with the actors that would keep them on through the show's upcoming 11th season.

However, it's not outside the realm of possibility that Ferrer and Charles could return for guest appearances down the line. Well, unless they get killed off. And even then, I guess there are always flashbacks. If nothing else, Grey's Anatomy will welcome back just about anyone. Hell, even Isaiah Washington is coming back! So we might not have seen the last of Murphy and Ross, once this season is through.
