Greg Finley Joins 'The Flash' as Girder
The cancellation of The CW's Star-Crossed has led to some of its notable actors being available for other CW projects. So if you're going to start casting for your latest, feverishly-anticipated supernatural show, why not keep it all in the family? That's exactly what The CW is doing with the latest casting news for The Flash.
Greg Finley is joining the cast of the Arrow spinoff as Tony Woodward, known as the villain Girder. Finley will first appear as Woodward in episodes 6 and 7, although it's uncertain when he will become Girder, or how long his stint as Girder will last. According to the official character description, Woodward becomes Girder after a S.T.A.R. Labs explosion leaves him with the ability to “transform his skin into living metal.”
The description continues: “The Flash tries to stop Tony when he goes on a crime spree, but this is not the first time Barry Allen has faced Tony—Tony was the bully who used to torment him as a child.”
Ooooo, history! Should be an interesting story arc. I'll also be really eager to see how/if the show pulls off the visual effects for Girder, as The CW doesn't have the biggest effects budget in the world. That said, the official trailer was fairly impressive for a first-year series on an underfunded network.
We'll see soon enough, as The Flash premieres Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 8:00 PM ET on The CW.
