Greer Grammer Named Miss Golden Globe 2015
The Golden Globes 2015 don't air until January, but we already know the name of someone who'll be helping to hand out the big awards: Greer Grammer, Awkward actress and daughter to Kelsey Grammer, has been named Miss Golden Globe 2015 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
"I screamed and I jumped up and down," she told PEOPLE. "I was just so happy when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association reached out to me this year. It was such a dream come true."
Both Kelsey Grammer and Greer's mother, Barrie Buckner, were apparently ecstatic to hear their daughter would be sharing the stage with some of Hollywood's biggest names. Granted, we don't know what any of those names will actually be just yet, but trust us, they'll be big. Huge, even.
But how did Greer's parents get the news?
"I called them separately and my mom was over the moon and I had to tell her not to tell anybody, because I know that she would have called everyone right off the bat, and same with my dad," Greer recalled. "They're so proud. They're so excited to see me on stage. I can't wait."
The title of Miss Golden Globe (or Mr. Golden Globe) is given each year to the son or daughter of a celebrity. Their responsibilities involve assisting with handing out awards on the night of the big show, which is no small task if you're the type to get easily starstruck. But we're thinking Greer is going to do just fine.
Previous holders of the title have been Rumer Willis, Joely Fisher and Freddie Prinze Jr., who served in 1996 at the age of 20. (Man, remember when Freddie Prinze Jr. was a movie star? God, I miss the 90s)
You can watch Greer take the stage when the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards air Sunday, Jan. 11, at 8:00 PM ET on NBC.
