A nation celebrated as the host team finally claimed their first gold medal of the London 2012 Olympics in the Women's Pair Rowing event. Read on for all the medal results.

The Brits are expected to contend for several rowing medals in these games, but it was the Women's Pair team who managed to bring home the host nation's much anticipated first medal. A roaring crowd, which included the princes William and Harry, cheered their home team on to a rousing victory.

The British pair jumped out to a commanding lead in the early going. The other teams closed the gap in the last leg of the race, but it was too little, too late. The Americans, who were out of contention for most of the race, made a nice charge at the end but finished just out of the medals.

Congratulations to the home team and all the medalists!
