Trent Reznor was really upset (read: expletive hurling upset) that his performance was cut off at the end of the Grammy Awards and the producers are finally apologizing for it.
"I'm sorry he was upset. I was really thrilled that we were finally getting him on the Grammys," executive producer Ken Ehrlich said of Reznor's Twitter response in which he called the award show disrespectful.
He went on to add, "I want to end on a high note. I did tell them we'd take as long as we could. The number was about five, six minutes long, and we got to him within a minute 20 [seconds] of the end. We got as close as we could possibly get."
Which mirrors what Recording Academy president Neil Portnow told reporters at the end of the show when he explained, "We save the end slot for something that is a bit of a jam ... Because you can have the energy go and then it's just a matter of the clock."
Reznor performed the closing number alongside Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Grohl and Fleetwood Mac‘s Lindsey Buckingham who didn't seem nearly as butthurt as the solo member of NIN.
