'Gracepoint' Canceled by FOX
To the surprise of basically no one, America's ill-advised Broadchurch remake won't be returning for a second season.
FOX has canceled Gracepoint, the limited series that ported David Tennant over from Broadchurch to once again play the senior detective on an investigation into the mysterious death of a young boy in a small town (alongside Emmy winner Anna Gunn in her first major TV role since Breaking Bad). Last week's finale only averaged about 4 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in the key demographic, so it's not all that big of a shocker that it won't be coming back. Hell, its billing as a limited series pretty much said this was a once-and-done, although I'm sure FOX would have figured out a way to keep it going if it had been a hit. After all, Broadchurch is getting a second season, premiering on ITV in the UK next month (and, presumably, BBC America at a later date). So if you're a fan of Gracepoint, now would probably be the time to switch on over to Broadchurch.
But what do you think of Gracepoint's cancellation? Was the series unnecessary given how similar it was to the original, or did you think it was worth checking out? Sound off in the comments!
