'Graceland' Renewed For a Third Season By USA Network
Graceland is coming back!
USA Network made the announcement official in a press release, confirming that the one-hour drama would return for a 13-episode third season in 2015. The series, from creator Jeff Eastin (whose White Collar is in its final season), centers on a group of undercover agents operating under the same roof. Starring Aaron Tveit as FBI agent Mike Warren, the show recently closed out its second season with a huge cliffhanger as Sid (Carmine Giovinazzo) smothered a hospitalized Mike as Briggs (Daniel Sunjata) raced to try to save him from before it was too late.
“This season of Graceland took viewers on a wild ride with unexpected character twists, and a heart-stopping cliffhanger that left a lead character’s fate in question,” said USA Network President Chris McCumber. “Jeff Eastin and the talented ensemble cast deliver on all levels, and season three will undoubtedly continue to keep us on the edge of our seats.”
Nancy Cotton, Fox Television Studios’ Senior Vice President of Programming, adds, “FTVS truly values the long and fruitful relationship we have with Jeff and USA. We could not be more excited to bring USA viewers another thrilling season of GRACELAND.”
I've fallen out with Graceland, but I might have to check back in on it before Season 3 premieres. In its first season, it was pretty compelling television, and it's got a great cast. And, above everything else, it's distinct. With Psych gone and White Collar soon following, USA needs more distinctive series to anchor its original programming schedule. Even a modest hit could do wonders for the lineup. So it's no surprise USA is choosing to renew Graceland, since it could grow to become a cornerstone drama for the network.
