'Gotham' Receives Full Season Order

Ahead of tonight's all-new episode, FOX has given a full season order to its freshman drama, Gotham.

The network has ordered six additional episode of the Batman prequel, which initially received a 16-episode order. The first season will now have a total of 22 episodes, which should take it all the way to the spring, instead of becoming strictly a fall series like its Monday night mate, Sleepy Hollow.

The decision makes a certain kind of sense, since it debuted to one of the strongest premieres of the year on any network, and continues to have a solid audience. Ratings aren't the monstrous, slam-dunk smash FOX had probably been hoping for, but Gotham is still a net positive for the network right now.
