Gotham Independent Film Awards 2013 - Full Winners List

It looks like it could be a more contentious Oscar season than previously expected, if the results of the 2013 Gotham Independent Film Awards are any indication. In the biggest upset of the awards season so far, The Coen Bros.'s Inside Llewyn Davis upset 12 Years A Slave for the Best Feature award, marking the first major defeat for Steve McQueen's American slavery epic. Could an Oscar repeat be far away? It's hard to tell at this early stage, but it's clear that the film is back in the race, after buzz had died down a bit in recent weeks.

The film stars Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Justin Timberlake, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman and Garrett Hedlund in the story of a singer-songwriter navigating New York's folk music scene in the 1960s. The stars perform on the soundtrack, and the film is already being called a classic of the musical genre, despite not being a musical in the traditional, theatrical sense. This could be a fascinating Oscar race.
