"Hurt Locker" producers sued days before Oscars (Reuters) - An Army sergeant on Tuesday sued the makers of Oscar-nominated film "The Hurt Locker" five days before the Academy Awards, claiming the central character in the film is based on him.
"Hurt Locker" producer banned from Oscars show (Hollywood Reporter) - Chartier disseminated an e-mail to certain Academy voters and other film industry figures in which he solicited votes for his own picture and disparaged one of the other contending films. Academy rules prohibit "casting a negative or derogatory light on a competing film." He will however get a statue at some point if the his film wins Best Picture.
