Gone Too Far - Preview - DJ AM
The DJ AM series "Gone Too Far" will premiere this Monday at 10 PM on MTV.
In September 2008, DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) along with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, survived a plane crash in South Carolina which left 4 people dead. It then came as a shock to many when just last August, DJ AM was found dead in his New York apartment of an apparent drug overdose. People speculated that it may have been suicide, but it was later ruled accidental.
This is a bit disheartening because months leading up to his death, DJ AM was filming a series for MTV on his own drug addiction and 11 years of sobriety while helping young addicts overcome their troubles. With the consent of DJ AM's family, we will get to see the series on MTV.
It's ironic and tragic. But I think "Gone Too Far" will give us a glimpse of how serious drug addiction can really be. It affects a lot of us really. Even when we think that we've overcome the problem, it may just come roaring back unexpectedly. DJ AM had his heart in the right place by helping others, but even he was not spared of a relapse which cost him his life.
