'Glee' Season 6 Adding Five New Characters
Glee is heading into its final season, but you'd never know from how the show is beefing up its Season 6 ensemble, despite a shorter episode order with which to tell its final stories.
The show will be adding five new characters to the series, all McKinley sophomores. The characters will star in the sixth and final season of Glee at a recurring capacity. The new characters include:
Roderick: Described as "a true goober," Roderick is a shy kid with a voice like Otis Redding and a lovable persona that will make him the show's new underdog.
Spencer: He’s the new football star in school who's not only a fantastic athlete, but also a damn good singer. He’s also gay, not that anyone would dare give him a hard time about it. Spencer is described as "post-Glee gay — no one messes with him about his sexuality because he will kick their asses if they do."
Jane: Described as "righteous, ambitious and unconventionally pretty," Jane lacks a sense of humor. Tradition prevented her from being a Warbler like she wanted, so she finds herself suddenly joining New Directions.
Mason and Madison: The tirelessly optimistic and positive pair are the newest Cheerios: they're also twins. Although Mason gives off a gay vibe to many of his friends and teammates, he's actually straight. I'm guessing he's being utilized to contrast with Spencer, who's in a "straight" sport but actually is gay.
It's difficult to know what kind of effect the characters will have on the final season, but this is encouraging news in that it seems we'll be having more of the season taking place at McKinley. The show will be heading back to its roots in Lima as the show comes to an end.
Glee Season 6 premieres at midseason.
