Glee - Season 4 - Episode 16 - Recap - Feud

Season 4 of GLEE is totally on a roll as it approaches its final bunch of episodes of the season. 'Feud' is definitely one of the best of the season, and probably one of my favorites the show has ever done. Read on for my full recap of all the epicness that took place in season 4, episode 16, Feud.

In the repercussions of last week's revelation that Finn was smooching on Emma, Finn and Mr. Schue aren't on good terms in the slightest. Finn can't seem to do anything right, including properly cleaning Will's vest collection. The glee club turns the tables on the two glee club leaders: it's time for a lesson of their own in feuds.

Rachel's pregnancy scare turned out to be a false alarm (thank gawd, because Glee already had it's whole indecisive-girl-going-through-a-pregnancy storyline back in season 1), and though Santana is there for her at the clinic, things aren't looking so hot on Brody's end. Brody and Rachel duet (distantly, I might add) on "How to Be a Heartbreaker"… and it turns out Brody is a male escort.

Blaine apparently signed a legally-binding contract for the Cheerios, so Sue pulls some strings, botches his credit report, and tricks him into using cement in his hair until he's had enough. He finally agrees to honor the contract if Sue wins against him in a feud sing-off. Ryder appears to have a new online girl interest, the mysteriously named 'katie_xoxo'… I spy a possible catfish? Finally Ryder gets a good storyline! His online gf requests a shirtless pic, and then suggests Ryder challenge Unique to a duel. See, Unique thinks he's a girl. But Ryder can't bring himself to call Unique a girl because Unique is a guy. Naturally, the easiest way to solve the problem is through a musical duel.

Finn tries to talk things out with Will so that they don't have to take the musical feud route, but Will still emphasizes that he's going to kick Finn's ass. Yeah, he kissed your girlfriend, but it was in a moment when Emma was freaking out and things happened so fast. Take a chill pill, Schuester. Meanwhile, despite Santana's claim that her "psychic third eye" is never wrong, Rachel still won't hear her through about Brody, so Santana does the most logical thing to mess with him: steals his pager.

Jarley makes up pretty quickly, with just a brief apology from Marley to Jake and the promise she will never kiss Ryder again. Well, that was easy wasn't it? It was only a kiss, after all. She refuses to stop talking to Ryder though, because it doesn't matter who she's talking to, she's still with Jake. The Ryder / Unique mash-up is totally epic, which was kind of to be expected from such great songs. "The Bitch is Back / Dress You Up" rocks, but it doesn't accomplish anything because Ryder still won't call Unique a girl. Ouchie.

Sue and Becky spruce up their Nicki Minaj faces in one of the single funniest moments on the show ever. I seriously would watch Sue playing Nicki for hours and hours and hours. Santana shows up at NYADA to intimidate and scare off Brody with a Paula Abdul song "Cold Hearted". Clearly it left it's mark, because the second that Santana returns to the apartment, Kurt and Rachel promptly kick her out. I don't see this lasting for long.

The most epic mashup of the episode has to be "Bye Bye Bye / I Want It That Way" between Will and Finn, whose voices literally sound like sex together. Finn's dance moves are that perfect combo of sexy and awkward that Cory Monteith has so fondly helped established, and of course Will works those strings. This show sure does know how to concoct brilliant mashups at the drop of a hat! The outcome of the duel isn't exactly glowing though for Finn or Will, because Will is still not willing to forgive him.

Ryder's mystery online woman manages to convince him that Unique believes he is a woman, so that makes it true to himself. Somehow, the logic manages to work on Ryder and he stages a heartfelt apology to both Unique and Jake and Marley all simultaneously. Unique tells a story about how a group of girls harassed him while in drag, and it's touching and upsetting and really nice how much support the others give him. Even Kitty comes out of the woodwork to chime in her two cents. The five of them promise to stick together through everything and practice hard for competition.

The most hilarious part of the episode undoubtedly comes in the form of the entire mashup of "I Still Believe / Super Bass" where Jane Lynch really lets her freak flag fly as Nicki. I was crying from laughter during this whole segment, honestly. Sue wins by a landslide vote, and soon enough she has Blaine back in his Cheerios uniform, cute butt and all. Turns out it was a secret plot between him and Sam to dethrone Sue as the queen of the school. Will her reign of terror really be ending anytime soon?

Marley tries to convince Finn to stop living in the shadow of Will and not rely on him so much and furthermore: he needs to grow a pair. He packs up his stuff, but it looks like when she mentions getting a teaching degree that it actually clicks with him. Maybe this was the wake up call that Finn really needed all along?

As if the episode couldn't get any more perfect or unpredictable, Brody shows up for a client and it ends up being… Santana. And then, just as I was expecting Rachel to come out of the bathroom it ends up being Finn. Finn works his charms to intimidate Brody, but when it doesn't work he actually gets physical with him and their fight is super amazing. It ends with a nice "Stay away from my future wife!" from Finn, the humblest and most amazing boyfriend anyone could ask for.

"Closer" is a super fun and just plain adorable closing number we've come to expect from Glee. Just when you think the episode will end with a song like most episodes of the show, Ryder chats more with his mystery girl but the second he mentions that he wants to meet her, she signs off. My money is on Unique, but maybe the mystery girl isn't even anyone we know. Hmmm.

What did you think of this week's episode? I can't wait for next week. Spice Girls? Radiohead? Blaine asking Sam if he has feelings for him? Yep, I'm so there.
