Glee - Recap - Don't Ask Me Why

Glee - Season 5 Episode 6 - Movin' Out

Glee butchers takes on Billy Joel this week with a tribute episode featuring the songs of the iconic Piano Man. I might be against this from the start because the one Long Islander in the cast (Jenna Ushkowtiz) doesn't get to sing one of his songs tonight.

Read on for our recap of Glee season 5 episode 6 "Movin' Out".

As the school year gets closer to an end, the students of McKinley are beginning to think about their futures and the careers they hope to achieve. Blaine and Sam are heading to New York for a trial run. Blaine will be auditioning for NYADA and Sam will be looking for scholarships. Is this a preview of next season?

They kick the episode off with a performance of "Movin' Out". Meh. Sam's ponytail ruins it for me. Blaine isn't as bad as I was thinking he would be. He does the second rendition of "Piano Man" that the series has seen and I think it is actually better than the version by Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Morrison. Then it turns into a diner singalong and I automatically regret my words. Why aren't the waiters there ever working?

Back at school, Jake thinks he's the victim in this relationship situation and a performance of "My Life" is going to prove to Marley that he doesn't need her. Does she need anyone? Ryder certainly hopes so. He spends the majority of the episode trying to win her over.

Artie wants to help Becky out with finding a good college and makes it his mission to let her know she has options. Options that don't include staying with Sue for the rest of her life. Sue wants Artie to leave Becky alone because she wants to shelter her from the cruel, college world. After a serenade of "Honesty" (best performance of the night by a mile), Artie convinces Becky to give a school in Cincinnati a chance. Hey look! It's the brother from The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Blaine flip flops on auditioning for NYADA, but we all know he'll end up there anyways. Sam gives up on school after a few disastrous interviews ("So..you're black. That must be interesting.") and decides to be a male model instead. His agent (guest star Tyra Banks) tells him he needs to starve himself to get more jobs. Rachel doesn't think this is true and oils him up for a stripper-esque photo shoot. Are they actually going to try and make Rachel and Sam a thing? Points for bringin' back Trouty Mouth.
