'Gilmore Girls' Is Finally Coming to Netflix
For fans looking to go back to Stars Hollow and relive the days when Melissa McCarthy wasn't playing a series of socially-awkward loudmouths, get excited! Yes, Gilmore Girls is finally coming to Netflix.
Beginning October 1st, Netflix will stream all seven seasons of the series. The show, which ran for seven seasons, centered on the evolving relationship between a mother and daughter in a colorful Connecticut town. And it was good. Like, really good. But more than that, it was charming. Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, as Lorelai Gilmore and daughter Rory, have the sort of familial chemistry rarely seen on TV between two people who aren't actually related (I suppose the Winchesters on Supernatural come pretty close though).
So even if you hated the final season, which lacked creator Amy Sherman-Palladino's involvement, you can still get your kicks on the classic episodes, which featured a slew of familiar faces in today's TV world, from Parenthood star Graham to Supernatural lead Jared Padalecki. Hell, we even get brief roles from other recognizable names like One Tree Hill's Chad Michael Murray, Family Guy's Alex Borstein, Heroes alum Milo Ventimiglia, and True Blood's Todd Lowe. It also features Melissa McCarthy in what is arguably her most endearing role, as chef Sookie St. James. It's always the role I point to when people say McCarthy has no range as an actress. She's far more talented and varied as an actress than many of her movie roles would suggest. And now, hopefully, a wider audience will get to see as much. Netflix is really pulling through with the awesome uploads as of late, and Gilmore Girls is yet another in their favor.
Speaking of Amy Sherman-Palladino shows, if we can see about getting Bunheads uploaded to Netflix next, that'd be great.
