George Zimmerman has been arrested for domestic violence charges after police were summoned to his home today (Nov. 18).

The headline-making Zimmerman was taken in by police and while no specific details were given, local reports indicate that his girlfriend and a gun may have been involved.

He will be checked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility according to officials for the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

Of course Zimmerman originally made headlines for being acquitted of shooting 17-year-old unarmed Trayvon Martin, only to make the news again when he was charged with domestic abuse of his estranged wife Shellie Zimmerman.

No charges ended up being filed for allegedly strangling and threatening Shellie's father, but he was also recently accused of stealing from his own mother. A case which police are currently reviewing.

UPDATE: Zimmerman's girlfriend told officers she was pregnant and as a result the charge is automatically listed as a felony. Meaning Zimmerman is not eligible for bail. That karma sure is a bitch.
