George Clooney is in a Prank War With Tina Fey + Amy Poehler - VIDEO
According to Matt Damon, he is embroiled in the middle of a prank war between George Clooney, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and it is glorious.
It all started at the Golden Globes, where Tina and Amy made the best joke of the evening, which went a little something like this:
Gravity is nominated for best film. It’s the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.
They also called Matt Damon a "garbage man," prompting Clooney to tell the LA Times:
Well, listen, here’s the thing. It’s a well-crafted joke, I can appreciate that. They have poked the bear with a stick. Oh, they have poked the bear. I don’t want to scare Amy or Tina — I don’t want them to be afraid at all — but, uh, they’ve poked the bear.
In response, Clooney got his hands on some Matt Damon stationary and sent a letter to Amy and Tina about how upset he was about their jokes at the Globes. He wrote to the comediennes:
Dear Tina ... Look, it sounds hypocritical because I laughed about jokes about George and Leo, but that’s sort of what people think about them…. But when you call me a garbage man it just seems like low-hanging fruit. It seems like an easy joke. I don’t want an apology or anything else. I just want you to know that my kid now calls me 'the garbage man.'
The following week Damon told David Letterman he received two enormous fruit baskets, one with a note labelled "Letter No. 1" and one labelled "Letter No. 2."
Letter one was an apology from Amy and Tina saying sorry for hurting his feelings and explaining that they thought he would be able to take a joke.
Even funnier, letter two stated:
Dear Matt,If your note is part of some George Clooney prank, as I very strongly suspect it is, you A-list amateurs are going to have to step it the f--k up.We are not some easily confused starlets you're dealing with here, we are grown-ass professional comedians. Please accept this fruit as a token of our sincerity.Best Wishes,Elizabeth "Tina" Fey, Amy "Boston" Poehler
Clooney later joked of the incident, saying, "She said step it up. That's the appetizer and what's coming now, the main course, is pretty brutal ... If I do this, this is downright dirty. I have to think if I'm actually going to do it or not."
Please do George! It can be our Christmas and birthday present!
