George Clooney to Appear in 'Downton Abbey' Short Film for Charity
Looks like Downton Abbey will have another American washing up on its doorstep this year.
George Clooney has reportedly signed on to appear in a Downton Abbey-related short film that will air during the holiday season on ITV in the UK. ITV, which is the broadcast home for Downton Abbey in the UK, commissioned the film as part of their annual Text Santa campaign, which will raise money for six UK charities.
While Clooney's role has not been revealed, we'd kind of love it if it had something to do with the Dowager Countess. Or hey, maybe he can be suitor Lady Edith so desperately needs. (Four seasons later, and she's STILL unlucky in love. Poor thing)
The fifth season of Downton Abbey premieres in the UK on Sunday, September 21st. However, American audiences won't get to see the new season until January 4th, 2015. Here's hoping it's worth the wait.
