Gay Jokes Are Out On American Idol 9

The producers are telling Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest to stop the gay jokes this year to make openly gay Ellen DeGeneres "feel welcome".

Gossip site Celebitchy notes that: "Simon Fuller was never fond of the gay joshing, but the show's former producer Nigel Lythgoe thought it was hilarious."

Blame all the gay jokes on Nigel Lythgoe I see. He's been harsh to a lot of dancers on So You Think You Can Dance for "looking effeminate" since that show premiered so I won't be surprised if these rumors are true.
