Garth Brooks To Release 4-CD Collection of Covers On November 19

Garth Brooks has been hinting about new material, and he has now announced exactly how that new material will take shape.

On November 19, he will release a 4-CD collection entitled Blame It All On My Roots: Five Decades of Influences through Walmart. The 4 new CDs will consist entirely of covers, covering country, rock, R&B and a "melting pot" disc for an assortment of material. Many of the 40 songs to be on this collection have been performed as part of his One Man Show at the Encore Theatre in Las Vegas.

Trisha Yearwood, Garth's wife, will also contribute, both as a duet partner and backing vocalist.

I'm kind of disappointed that we won't hear new music from Garth, and it seems a decidedly safe move, placing him firmly as a legacy artist rather than one who will directly challenge the new music populating the charts. But we'll see how this pans out, as it may be followed by new material, and this is just the first of several surprises from Garth.
