Garth Brooks Announces World Tour on 'Good Morning America'
Over the past several days, there have been rumors that country legend Garth Brooks had a huge announcement in store. And now, we know exactly what that announcement is: a World Tour. The singer confirmed the news on Good Morning America today.
During a sit-down interview with GMA host Robin Roberts, Brooks broke the news, surprising himself with his own spontaneity in the process.
"You know what, since it's you and since we've had a history forever, let's announce it. We're going on a world tour in 2014," Brooks told Roberts. "I can't believe I just did that but you are a doll."
"It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring," Brooks continued, adding that his family -- from his children to wife Trisha Yearwood -- are on-board with his decision. "All my babies are fine with it. Ms. Yearwood is fine with it. So now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music. I get to be with the person I want to be with, which is Ms. Yearwood."
In fact, Brooks's family had a lot to do with his decision, since his kids are mostly off on their own now, meaning he no longer feels the same guilt about not being there, as he's now "a phone call dad."
"Our baby is a senior in high school," Brooks explains. "My children are off on their own so the guilt of not being there…I'm a phone call dad now. 'Hey Dad, I love you, can I borrow some money?'"
If nothing else, Brooks seems ready to finally get back out on the road after retiring from regular performing in 2000. And I would imagine the country music scene is ready to have him back. You can watch video of the interview at the link provided below:
