Is Garrett Hedlund moving in on Colin O'Donoghue's territory? Apparently, ABC's Once Upon A Time isn't the only property featuring a younger, sexier take on the character of Captain Hook.

Warner Bros. has reportedly offered Garrett Hedlund the role of Captain Hook in the upcoming Pan, a new gritty adaptation of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan that will offer an origin story for the iconic characters of the classic children's tale.

The film will be directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride & Prejudice), and will focus on the friendship between Peter Pan and the man who would become Captain Hook. Hedlund would play Hook from his time as Pan's friend through his time working as a crew member aboard Blackbeard's pirate ship, through to his transformation into the legendary villain.

Hugh Jackman is reportedly being considered for the role of Blackbeard (the film's villain), although nothing is confirmed just yet. The movie comes from writer Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift) and producer Greg Berlanti (The Tomorrow People), while Sarah Schechter (The Royal Tennenbaums) will oversee the project for the studio.

Pan is scheduled to release in the summer of 2015.
