Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill will be joined by a Fast & Furious star in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman-infused sequel to Man of Steel.

Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman in the eagerly anticipated sequel, a casting decision that has both Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder particularly enthused.

"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe," Snyder stated in an official release. "Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

I'll admit, she doesn't really look the part right now. But I'm all on board with giving her a shot at making this work. Although I'm not entirely sure why this sequel even needs Wonder Woman, unless Warner Bros. intends to use it as a backdoor introduction for the Justice League movie. And even then, I'd still argue she should get her own movie first. The Avengers worked because we got to know each member over the course of their own movie(s) so that when they all came together, it felt like a big deal. I'm just not sure Warner Bros. will achieve the same level of success with Justice League, assuming it even gets off the ground within the next five years.

But hey, this is as productive a start as any.
