After our earlier story on last night's ratings for the major network, the cable numbers have now come in, and it appears to spell doom for FX's critically-acclaimed new series, The Americans.

The series, which stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as two KGB sleeper agents living in suburban Washington D.C., was down nearly 40% this week from its premiere last Wednesday, dropping from 3.22 million viewers last week to just 1.97 million last night. The drama also fell 32% in the key demo of adults 18-49: from 1.57 million to 1.07 million.

However, on the plus side, last night's episode increased total network viewership by 67% from its movie lead-in, Tron: Legacy. Although, really, shouldn't you expect that a new series of a critically-acclaimed drama would improve overall viewership over a three year-old movie?

Hopefully, the show finds its footing, as it's pretty damn good, and deserves a shot to find an audience. Especially in a world where Yes, Dear got six seasons on network TV.
