FX Renews 'Fargo' and 'Louie'
The Television Critics Association summer press tour continues in Beverly Hills, and that means some big announcements from the major networks, including renewals for next season. Such is the case for FX, whose panel confirmed two such renewals.
FX CEO John Landgraf has announced that Louie has been renewed for a fifth season, while Fargo has been renewed for a second. Both shows are Emmy nominees this year, and are likely winners, to boot, adding to the critical cache of the network as a whole. However, little has been revealed about what to expect from the future seasons.
Louie is coming off of its most controversial season ever, and one of its more critically-divisive, not that criticism has ever phased Louis C.K. before. It should be interesting to see what Louie will have in store for season five when it premieres in 2015 (yes, in 2015. No year+ wait between seasons like last time).
As for Fargo, Landgraf confirmed that the new season would feature new characters and a new storyline, making this the second anthology series on the network after American Horror Story, and the latest in the revival of anthology series this year following the success of True Detective. All of which are Emmy-nominated, so anthology series must be scratching that critical itch.
