'Frozen' is now the highest-grossing animated film in history
It's finally happened. Frozen has now become the highest-grossing animated film in history, cementing its spot as the biggest of the four faces on the Mt. Rushmore of Animated Film -- something that doesn't exist, but probably should.
Disney’s Frozen achieved the honor after finally opening this weekend in Japan -- its final market. Factoring in the ticket sales from the Japanese market, Frozen's total sales have now reached $1.072 billion. This gives Frozen the record, bumping former champ Toy Story 3. The Disney/Pixar film, which held the No. 1 spot since 2010 and would go on to become only the third animated film in history to be nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, grossed $1.063 billion.

Frozen is the first billion-dollar title from Disney Animation studios, between its $398.4 million domestic gross and $674 million international tally. It's also now in the Top 10 films of all-time globally at the box office. So yes, the film whose sole purpose in life was to become your obsession has now become everyone else's. Long live Frozen, which just might become your kid's obsession in twenty years time (or now, if you have kids already. And if you do, don't let them lose sight of how awesome the soundtrack to Beauty and the Beast is).
