'Frozen' Director to Adapt 'A Wrinkle In Time'

Jennifer Lee just delivered Disney one of its biggest hits of all-time. Now, she's looking to make it two for two.

Lee, the director of the Oscar-winning Frozen, has officially signed on to direct an adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's iconic young adult novel, A Wrinkle In Time, for Disney.

First published in 1962, A Wrinkle In Time tells the story of a brother and sister who journey through all of time and space in a desperate search for their father. The book is the first in L'Engle's "Time Quarter" series, which also includes A Wind in the Door, Many Waters, and A Swiftly Tilting Planet. However, Disney is taking the film adaptations one book at a time. This will be the second film version of A Wrinkle In Time, after Disney contributed to a Canadian-helmed adaptation in 2004.

Lee is perfect for the job, owing to her skill with poignant, youth-driven stories. As the first female to direct a Disney animated feature, alongside co-director Chris Buck, she helped shape Frozen into the massive blockbuster it became. In addition, she also wrote Wreck-It Ralph, which is easily one of Disney's best animated features in a decade. Basically, Lee has the skill to make this work, so if you loved the original book, now would probably be the time to get excited.
