Friday Music Break
Posted by Howard Stump, frequent contributor to Rickey.Org
As I have my own music blog, Soundtrack to my Day, Rickey has asked me to post some music that has attracted my interest and that of some of my readers. Hope you can enjoy the music, and maybe come across a few artists you hadn't heard before.
In a recent post, I recalled the worldwide domination of Austrian Falco with his 1985 megahit, Rock Me Amadeus. Falco was set to make a comeback until his untimely death in 1998. (Worth Another Listen - Falco)

In the lead up to Easter weekend, I celebrated with Alison Moyet singing her 1984 hit, Love Resurrection. Moyet was also known as the lead singer for the group Yazoo, renamed in the US as Yaz. (Love Resurrection - Alison Moyet)

My blog is known for my support of indie singer/songwriters. One of my favorites is Eric Himan. Based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, he teamed up with the talented brother/sister team of Angel & Jimmy Adams to form Eric & the Adams. They recently released their first EP, and the single, Every Move. (New Release - Eric & the Adams)

I do love a good cover, and a singer/songwriter with a guitar and a bunch of talent can do it better than almost anyone. This is Christopher Dallman singing Britney Spears' Gimme More. (Live Music - Christopher Dallman)

I do a weekly feature on Broadway shows, and this week I featured Godspell. The 1984 movie featured a young Victor Garber as Jesus, long before he was cast as Will's father in Glee. The song Day By Day from the original cast album made it into the Top 20 in the Pop chart, reaching #13. So why does Simon think 'Broadway' is a bad thing? (Dark Monday - Godspell)

I was able to interview New York native SIRPAUL, discussing his past recordings, his inspirations and his upcoming release. The first in a three-part series debuted Thursday night. A master of Electronica, SIRPAUL's music draws people to the dance floor whenever it is played. His videos have appeared on LOGO, and are on the MTV website. (SIRPAUL Interview)
