FOX's 'Gotham' Casts The Riddler

FOX is firmly ensconced in the DC Universe with its upcoming Batman prequel, Gotham. The story sees a young detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) teaming up with partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) to battle the Gotham criminal element. Naturally, this means encounters with some of the city's most legendary crooks.

And one of them has just been cast.

Cory Michael Smith, who appeared on Broadway with Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke in Breakfast at Tiffany's, has been cast as Edward Nygma, the man who will one day become The Riddler. This interpretation of the character isn't far removed from his comic book counterpart. Nygma is described as a “brilliant young forensic scientist. Inquisitive and eccentric, and outgoing but socially awkward, he wants to be liked—but doesn’t quite know how.”

So let the riddling begin! You know, except without Jim Carey this time.
