FOX renews 'The Following', 'New Girl', and two others

Never let it be said that FOX doesn't love Bacon (and hates portion control) as much as the rest of the nation.
Because, really, that's the only reason I can imagine for FOX renewing its most divisive drama, the Kevin Bacon-starring crime thriller The Following.
Okay, it's not the only reason. The drama pulls respectable numbers in its Monday 9pm timeslot (more respectable numbers, at least, than The Mob Doctor), and it's not as though critics hate the show or anything. (Alright, maybe just me) But Bacon is pretty much the best reason to keep watching. It also makes playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon that much easier for James Purefoy.
The series will get the same 15-episode count for its second season as for its freshman outing, said FOX president Kevin Reilly, who announced, “From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding. Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I’m delighted to have this thrill ride continue for another season.”
Meanwhile, the network has also granted renewals to the remaining, non-Ben and Kate Tuesday night comedies: New Girl, Raising Hope and freshman series The Mindy Project.
With Bones having also recently been renewed for another season, FOX leaves its Monday and Tuesday night lineups more or less intact, making FOX that one parent who always keeps their schedule: because if you say you're taking me for ice cream every Tuesday night, you'd damn well better show the hell up.
