FOX Picks Up 'Bordertown' From Seth MacFarlane

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is continuing his animated dominance over FOX, as the network has given a straight-to-series order for the producer's latest animated comedy, Bordertown.

FOX has given a 13-episode order to the series, created by MacFarlane and Mark Hentemann, which will provide a satirical look at the various cultural changes occurring in modern day America. The series debut is set for the 2014-2015 season.

Set in a fictional desert town near the Mexican border, Bordertown focuses on the lives of two neighbors, Bud Buckwald and Ernesto Gonzales. Bud is a married father of three who feels threatened by the cultural shifts occurring in his neighborhood. Of course, he's also a Border Patrol agent, which prompts him to be suspicious of next door neighbor Ernesto, a Mexican immigrant and father of four, who is simply proud to be in America. The conflict will presumably lead to comedic hijinks, although I'm not that confident it won't just be a culturally insensitive mess, following the nightmare that is Dads. Then again, MacFarlane did co-create American Dad, a series of tireless quality. I also quite enjoy MacFarlane as an entertainer and personality far more than his shows. So I'm a bit torn.
